Midnight Wonderland offers shirts, jumpsuits, jackets, overlays, kurtas, dresses, bustiers and a couple of saris. Habutai silk, chanderi, brocade and denim pieces are designed in a palette dominated by deep blue, red and green. There are accompaniments – revamped minaudières, an obi belt and a selection of scarves, doused with tropical palms, stripes, and the consistent motif of red poppies. Some details are interesting – like the 90s-style sneaky patchwork pocket with hand-sewn sequins that features on a pair of high-waist denims, a bouquet of three-dimensional flowers encrusted on a cotton wristlet – an ode to Chandra’s obsession with florals, Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and the allure of the seventies Hindi cinema diva Zeenat Aman.
