The Pop Up Shop that New Delhi can't stop talking about

The Mumbai versus New Delhi debate is relentless, and when one of the years’ more exciting new labels launches a store first in the Bay, capital folk are taken down a notch or two. But over the weekend the status quo was set right again, when Nicobar returned to Delhi—its origin city. Nicobar co-founded by Simran Lal (of Good Earth fame) and Raul Rai, launched the Nicobar Treehouse, a week-long pop-up and definitive shopping experience at their pastoral farmhouse-studio in the capital. The homecoming was inaugurated over a whimsical evening—complete with tropical cocktails, light and shadow installations, a jazz ensemble assembled by Midival Punditz’ Gaurav Raina, the city’s new-age sophisticates (from Google CEO Rajan Anandan to designer Manish Arora) and a fashion showcase that featured their already-signature relaxed urban dressing and teased their upcoming menswear line. Nicobar seems to have created an “urban island”, heralding a modern Indian lifestyle catering to homes and wardrobes, where references are diverse but the core identity unshakeable.

The Nicobar pop up at Tulsi Garden Studio (Nicobar Studio, Tulsi Farms, Mandi Road, Sultanpur Estate, New Delhi) will be open to the public from Sunday, April 10 to Sunday, April 17
