With their newest store, Nicobar's ‘at home anywhere’ aesthetic is more pronounced than ever before. Tropical, rooted, modern but clearly not Western: these are the catchphrases one associates with lifestyle and home decor brand Nicobar. It has only been a year since the brand’s big debut in Mumbai (Kala Ghoda) followed by a second outpost in Bandra, but Nicobar has been unstoppable with its India expansion plans.
The contemporary home décor, fashion and travel accessories brand has been picking up the pace by extending its footprint across Delhi, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, and Chennai (either through standalone stores or pop-up shops).
Nicobar’s seventh store is located in Hyderabad’s plush Banjara Hills. With their newest store, Nicobar’s ‘at home anywhere’ aesthetic is more pronounced than ever before, and they launch with festive-ready wares for your homes, wardrobes, and travels.
Spread across 1,800 square feet, the space has an open-floor plan and a more home-like experience, where one moves from chamber to chamber as if moving through one’s own personal space (much like the brand’s Bandra store housed in a 1920s colonial-style bungalow).
Sunlight spills in through the large picture windows and you can expect to be welcomed by a play of textures ranging from earthy stone, smooth marble, warm timber, artisanal pine wood, beautiful high ceilings, and an eclectic mix of cork tables, and wood furniture.
Simran Lal, co-founder and creative director says, “Our Hyderabad store fuses old-world charm with new-age technology for a well-rounded sampler of the times we live in.” The space is uncluttered, engaging, and easy on the eyes with little curiosities in every nook and cranny, to encourage guests to experience the space as islands of comfort and visual pleasure, rather than a commercial arena to simply buy products and leave. The House and Home section is reminiscent of a large living room, with cork shelves to display homeware—cushions, table linen, decor, and a large selection of crockery for dining tables.
A separate section, reminiscent of a roomy private boudoir, houses the womenswear collection with a styling wall that puts looks together. Other areas are accented with plush seating for friends and family.
