Nicobar’s spring summer home and travel collection takes inspiration from the design journey traversing India to Japan and back. The collection imbibes distinctive design techniques from Japan into Nicobar’s own relaxed, easy and fuss free aesthetic. The home collection is soaked in sometsuke blues, and inspired by the classic blue-and-white ceramics that are so intertwined with Japan. The dining line is thoroughly modern and simple with generously sized mugs and, glossy kulhars for tea or cocktails, and small plates for tapas or tempura – all in rich, inky and jewel like tones peppered with flourishes and swirling geometric patterns.
Textiles are a wash od placid blue, ivory, and fading greys punctuated with pops of colour, and dabbling in techniques like shibori resist-dyeing, and boro-inspired patchwork. It’s a line compromising of jute, cotton, khadi and foraged summer blooms.
